📙6. EMPOWERING EFL STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILLS THROUGH WORDWALL AS A DIGITAL EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE.

Resumen:
This study examines how students’ speaking skills can be strengthened by using WordWall as a digital teaching tool in an EFL environment. The interactive elements and gamification components of WordWall provide the opportunity to encourage students to speak. Two groups of students from the Language Center and the Pedagogy of National and Foreign Languages (PINE) program at the National College of Education participated in this action research study using WordWall games. The study was conducted in four phases in which student engagement and the benefits and limitations of WordWall features were analyzed. The results showed that the key activities in using WordWall in the EFL curriculum provide exceptional, insightful guidelines on how to make the best use of WordWall to develop speaking activities for EFL students, as well as a better understanding of how to motivate students and help them become more competent speakers.Keywords: digital resource, EFL, speaking skill, WordWall

📙7. AFFECTIVE FILTER INFLUENCE ON ORAL PRODUCTION PERFORMANCE IN A VIRTUAL EFL SETTING.

Resumen:
The Affective Filter is an influential factor in the development of oral production in EFL. So,
in a virtual educational environment, strategies must be applied to reduce student stress and
anxiety. This study focuses on the affective filter and the relationship it has with the production
of oral activities in a virtual environment. The method applied in this research was descriptivequantitative, to a group of 113 university students of A2 level of English, from the Universidad
Nacional de Educación and the Santa Elena Peninsula State University. To collect the information,
two structured surveys were employed. The results show that anxiety and self-confidence did
not have a direct influence on the performance of oral production; while motivation played an

important role in it, leading to the conclusion that the greater the motivation, the greater the
oral production.

Resumen:
El proyecto SPELL: SPARKLING POTENTIAL AND ENGAGEMENT IN LANGUAGE LEARNERS surge como respuesta a la necesidad urgente de mejorar la competencia comunicativa en inglés de niños y niñas de 5 a 11 años en comunidades de Azogues, Cuenca y Chordeleg. Esta necesidad se identifica a través de un diagnóstico que evidencia deficiencias en la enseñanza del inglés y la falta de acceso a recursos educativos de calidad en estas áreas.
La solución propuesta por SPELL consiste en implementar boot camps y desarrollar recursos digitales para fortalecer la competencia en inglés de los niños. Los objetivos específicos del proyecto incluyen el diseño de planes de clases innovadores, la elaboración de material didáctico con el apoyo de estudiantes voluntarios, la capacitación de estudiantes en estrategias innovadoras, la ejecución de boot camps, la creación de recursos digitales y la evaluación del progreso de los beneficiarios.
Al finalizar el proyecto, se espera un notable aumento en la competencia comunicativa en inglés de los niños beneficiarios. Esto abrirá oportunidades educativas y laborales para ellos en el futuro, rompiendo el ciclo de desventaja socioeconómica. Además, la creación de recursos digitales permitirá un acceso continuo a la enseñanza del inglés, incluso después de la finalización del proyecto, asegurando un impacto duradero en las comunidades.
Este proyecto es relevante debido a su potencial para transformar vidas y comunidades enteras. Al mejorar las habilidades en inglés de los niños y las niñas de estas comunidades, estamos brindando herramientas para un futuro más prometedor. La colaboración con estudiantes universitarios y la posterior divulgación de resultados a través de artículos científicos y conferencias académicas también destacan el compromiso con la excelencia y la innovación en la educación.
